I would like to update you on the direction we are taking with the limited stock of our Old Vine Barossa Shiraz moving forward.
During the COVID lockdown last year, I decided to undertake a Graduate Diploma in Oenology and Viticulture at the Adelaide University -Waite Campus.
I have one more Semester to complete this degree and although extremely challenging due to my lack of knowledge in Chemistry and Science, I have enjoyed it immensely!
The overall learnings have heightened my passion for making the best Quality wines based on the highest quality grapes that I can source. I will be forever thankful to Geoff Schrapel of Bethany Wines for not only teaching me how to make my One Lonely Barrel Shiraz, but for providing me with great fruit.
The 100-year Homestead vineyard is only 2.5 acres producing 5 to 8 tons at best. We handpick this vineyard and we split the vintage 50/50. 2018, 2019 and 2020, were for all sorts of reasons at the lower end of the yield, hence I have only 170 cases of the 2018 Old Vine Shiraz available. I am putting aside 70 cases for the restaurants and making available 100 cases for the general public.
However, rather than selling them to the general public, I am trying to provide at least 100 of my most loyal One Lonely Barrel friends either a 6 pack or 12 pack. I have priced the 2018 Old Vine Barossa Shiraz @ $36/bottle. The one case offer per customer is on the first 50 of the 100 cases available and is priced @ $22.50/btl.
